GOULDSBORO HISTORICAL SOCIETY
A small group of interested citizens met on November 11, 1991. They had no idea where their quest would take them. The cozy basement of the Grace Lutheran Church housed these inquiring, maybe nosey Gouldsboro residents. Meetings are still held monthly, everyone is welcome. The group wanted to learn all they could about the village that changed its name from Sand Cut to Gouldsboro in 1892. The seven mile long village has undergone many changes. Education about Gouldsboro is the main objective.
Many older residents have come forward with wonderful tales of “the good old days”. Jay Gould has turned out to be much less the rascal he was first thought to be. The Gouldsboro Historical Society members have scraped and repainted the State Historical sign on Route 507. They have made and hung red bows for Christmas throughout the area. They have walked in the Memorial Day Parade dressed in Victorian clothing. They are now working hard collecting memorabilia for the ongoing museum. Members greet the museum visitors and answer all questions. They also assist in the fundraisers, and greet the two Steamtown trains that stop at the station during the summer. They are dressed in Victorian outfits and pose for many pictures with the passengers. They are currently collecting old photos, newspapers, and historical items to be exhibited.

The museum is open every Saturday from 10am to 2pm during the summer months. The Gouldsboro Historical Society Ladies dress in vintage clothing and are happy to tell you about our beautiful train station and town. Please come visit us.
